A Close Look at My School

The Academic year 2002 began with a  student strength of 661 and 38 teachers; twenty one out of which are expatriates. Apart from this , the school has three Supervisors  three Assistant Headmasters, a senior secretary, two senior clerks, five attenders  and two watchmen to assist in the activities of the school.

The students who appear for the GCE O Level and SSC examinations from this school, have been achieving good results.  

The Best School, Raa Atoll Education Centre

Raa Atoll Education Centre was opened to cater to the educational needs of the students of the atoll by the government of the Maldives. The Centre’s foundation was laid on 31^st May 1981. It was inaugurated on 4^th March 1983 by the then Honourable Minister of Education , Mr. Mohamed Zahir, and Honourable Minister for Health , Mr. Mohamed Musthafa Hussain.

The school initially began to function with a meager strength of 180 students and four teachers at the primary level . There were two sessions for classes of grade 1 and special classes 1,2,3. Since its conception the school has gone through many stages of progress .

Today , the school has classes from Grade 1- 10 with a strength of over 661 students.

Both , Commerce and Science streams are being offered to the secondary grade students who are being able to follow the same inspite of the courses being comparatively new to them. As a result of this , many students from other islands are virtually drawn to this school.

The Effective Use of ICT

We, RAEC teachers started to use ICT related resources in the classroom. Students find it interesting and they are actively involved in learning. Though it requires some more time for the teachers to develop interactive lesson rather than lesson planning, they are motivated to spend as much as time consumed.
